Private Key Safety

Learn how private keys differ from recovery phrases, where exposure happens, and how to keep wallet credentials under your control.

Understand the risk surface

A private key signs for an address; a recovery phrase can derive multiple keys in common wallet systems. Both must remain confidential.

Cloud photo backups, synced clipboards, browser extensions, and fake support pages can expose credentials. A padlock in the browser is not sufficient proof of trust.

01

Keep keys and phrases private

A private key signs for an address; a recovery phrase can derive multiple keys in common wallet systems. Both must remain confidential.

02

Disable risky automatic sync

Cloud photo backups, synced clipboards, browser extensions, and fake support pages can expose credentials. A padlock in the browser is not sufficient proof of trust.

03

Consider fresh credentials after a leak

If a phrase may be compromised, assess moving funds to a fresh wallet created on a trusted device. Changing an app password does not revoke a leaked phrase.

Remember: No single check guarantees transaction safety. Treat unexplained signatures and links cautiously.
